Standard vulcanite stem, 3.5 inches

I have 3 cobs (for now) and ordered various forever stems for them with specific matchups in mind. This stem was intended for my Ozark, but fit my Washington much better. If you are an advocate of using a filter with your cob, these stems will not allow that.

Everything about this stem is 5 star quality.

Great quality stem. A definite step up from what came with my MM cob. Service was fast. Liked the hand-written thanks on the shipping invoice!
Same as it ever was.

I own forever stems from the current and former companies both, and, aside from fewer options at the moment, the stems are indistinguishable and quite well made. 4 instead of 5 because I prefer a slightly more open airway, and I know that's picky. If you hate that a MM stem won't take a softy bit, or gets tooth marks from a sideways glance, this is the best, and certainly most affordable option to replace them. I've just ordered my fourth. The 3.5" is a very nice option for those of us who like to button hang like Bing. Kudos, OLCPW.

The very first corn cob pipe I ever owned was the M.M. Diplomat. It proved to be an attractive, well finished little $8.00 pipe, with a good feel, a more than adequate bowl, and wonderful smoking properties. It also came with a bottom of the barrel cheap plastic stem (which explains the low cost) which a clencher such as myself was beginning to work through rapidly. After due consideration, I decided that my very first cob (I now own nine) should be given its proper respect. So ultimately I purchased a 3.5" vulcanite bent stem (which I knew would extend its length by 3/4"), wondering all the while if it was really worth the sentimental value to turn a cheap $8.00 pipe into a $30.00 pipe, when I can buy the extra plastic stems for it at .50 cents apiece. Then, two weeks later, an amazing thing happened. I received this BEAUTIFUL (I kid you not) black vulcanite stem with a little golden dot in a white circle on the top, which fit my cherished M.M. Diplomat like a long lost lover! Trust me: There is absolutely NO buyers remorse here! These stems are of the HIGHEST quality! My little Diplomat looks and feels like an Ambassador now. ;) So, in conclusion, if you're like me and you have a sentimental value attached to one of your cobs, OR if you just want a decent stem to last a lifetime, go ahead and feel free to put that proverbial silk hat on that pig. You'll be glad you did!
